GF arrowhead graphicDistrict offices temporarily moved to Sanford Street building

The district offices have temporarily relocated to Sanford Street School through April, 2019 while renovations are underway at the administration building. All office contact information (phone numbers and email addresses) remain the same, and admin office visitors should use "Door A" on the back side of the Sanford Street building, where the Special Education office is located. Board of Education meetings will be held at: Kensington in January; Big Cross in February; Middle School in March; and High School in April. Board committee meetings will take place in the Sanford Street school cafeteria.

Officers and K-9 teams from multiple law enforcement agencies were on site at the High School/Middle School campus on Wednesday, Jan. 16th, as the buildings conducted a lockdown drill—in which students and staff practice the emergency response procedures for an internal threat. [ READ MORE ]

Local business O’Brien Insurance has been honored with the WSWHE BOCES Outstanding Business Partnership Award for the many ways in which they support students at Glens Falls City Schools. Owner John O’Brien accepted the award during a gathering of school superintendents and legislators from the 5-county region on January 12th. [ READ MORE ]

The Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program is a free, half-day, full-year program for four-year olds. Entry into the UPK class is determined by lottery each spring. Lottery forms are due by April 11, 2019. Read more about the UPK lottery application [ HERE ].
Kindergarten students must be five years old by December 1, 2019 in order to start school in September. Registration for new kindergarten students is held at Kindergarten Round-Up events at each elementary school in March. Read more about kindergarten registration [ HERE ].

Come see your favorite elementary through high school teachers battle it out on the basketball court to raise money for the South High Marathon Dance! Glens Falls teachers will host South Glens Falls teachers in the inaugural Battle for the Bridge charity basketball game on Saturday, January 19th at 6:30 p.m. Doors open to the Glens Falls High School gym at 5:45p.m. with FREE admission! Donations to SHMD will be accepted, raffle baskets and concessions will be available, and plenty of smiles are in store for the whole family!

The GFMS "One Tribe" community donated about 1,000 canned and dry goods to help under-resourced families served by the Salvation Army in December! "Kate Crandall, Student Senate President, was a true leader, updating the chart EVERYDAY!!" says advisor Juliana Ogden. The sixth grade brought in the most canned goods with approximately 350 items.

A one-page printable version of the 2018-19 calendar that includes school breaks, holidays, and Regents exam days can be downloaded [ HERE ]. Families should note that Memorial Day weekend includes Friday off this year, and the last day of school falls later then usual - Wednesday, June 26 - due to the state's Regents exam schedule. Graduation is Saturday, June 29, 2019. Printed calendars will soon be on their way to every family with enrolled students, and any district resident may request a calendar by calling the district office at 518-792-1481.
